Traditional Japanese Satsuma earthenware developed in the 16th century in Japan and featured scenes of flora and fauna and Japanese life. A rare blend of precious metal powders—predominantly Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Copper—is applied to create the myriad details of this fine writing instrument through multiple processes of applying several layers of Urushi, sprinkling of powders, and inlaying fine pieces of Gold and different colors of Mother of Pearl and Raden in the highest levels of Shishiai Maki-e Art techniques ever achieved.
