Turtle iconography has been celebrated in ancient and popular culture across the world. There are many legends and beliefs that surround the Turtle from the ancient folklore of North American indigenous cultures which believed that the world rested on the back of a great giant turtle; to the contemporary custom of regarding turtles as auspicious Feng Shui symbols by the Chinese.
