In an age of disposability, when both objects and people are discarded as soon as they cease to be of use, a fountain pen has the durability of old friendship. Montegrappa combines the most advanced technology with the fastidious taste of an older, gentler, more discriminating, and refined era, when our relationships to things and people were based on appreciation of quality, rather than expediency or utility, and when style was a reflection not of trendy conformity, but of self-expression.

The Roses Collection

The inspiration for this collection was the 30 years War of the Roses between the House of YORK and the House of LANCASTER for the trone of England. This tumultuous era in English History, the period 1445-1485 is aptly named after the chosen emblems of the two families: the white rose of the House of York and the red rose of the House of Lancaster.

The rose is the predominant feature of both the YORK and the LANCASTER pens by MONTEGRAPPA.

These beautiful flowers are encapsulated in the graceful silver clip and appear in the rich floral design engraved in the low relief on the cap and barrel.

Both pens are manufactured in complete sterling silver (925) and are fitted with a platinum-plated 18K solid gold nib, engraved with MONTEGRAPPA's original greek decoration. The collection is supplied with a prestigious briar wood and silver gift box.

MONTEGRAPPA dedicates this limited edition to those who wish to convey a message of love, passion and peace, in antithesis to the war that inspired this collection.

The pen is brand new and has never been used. However, the outer box shows signs of wear due to age, and the presentation box has two small cracks in one corner, as seen in our images. The inner box also has some stains from where the pen has been resting, and the pen itself has developed patina.
