The Qwerty collection is inspired by the alphanumeric keyboard patented in 1864 by Christopher Sholes. With this pen we want to pay homage to a timeless system, born with typewriters, but still present today in everyday life.
The first version of the keyboard patented by Christopher Sholes and associates in 1864 provided for the letters arranged in alphabetical order. When, in 1873, Sholes and his associates signed a contract with Remington for the construction of the first typewriter, the layout of the keys was completely different and took the name of Qwerty from the sequence of the first six letters on the top line. There are several theories on the reason for this change, but the most accredited sees as protagonists the telegraphers, interpreters of messages in Morse code, who helped to reformulate the keyboard in the most functional way.
There have been many attempts over time to introduce different keyboards, but the Qwerty has managed to make its way around the world to become the established system for typists and typists. Its functionality today is as close to the world of vintage as it is to that of technology, thus making it a timeless tool.
Equipped with double tank and 18kt nib, the Qwerty in fountain pen version is a new limited edition, made with special processing techniques and precious materials. For the realization of this pen black acrylic was used for the base of the barrel and the cap, then covered with an engraved and subsequently enamelled aged silver structure.
