In an exceedingly labor-intensive masterpiece, Platinum utilizes Maki-e artwork and the Kin-Nashiji technique, sprinkling gold powder through the Urushi painted body which is embedded with thick seashells, individually (Raden technique).
The process of embedding the seashells on a round body is, in itself, a significant undertaking. After this process, a Platinum craftsman uses charcoal to polish the pen surface (Togi-dashi technique).
Each pen is signed by the Japanese artist who paints the Maki-e artwork. The 18kt gold nib is medium.
The pen is new and unused, does not come with the box or paperwork.
