S.T. Dupont, named after its founder Simon Tissot-Dupont, a brilliant creator of high-class leather goods, has been making luxury objects for over a century perpetuating the tradition of French good taste. The Maharajah of Paital, the Duke and Duchess of Windsor and the Rockerfellers were loyal customers. Nestled in the heart of the French Alps, S.T. Dupont continues to employ the best specialists in the profession, including engravers and craftsmen with a lifetime's experience in guilloche and lacquer work.
The Jeroboam was created in the 1930's. In fact, this was the first table lighter to be designed by the craftsmen of S.T. Dupont. The name 'Jeroboam' is taken from the word used by champagne growers for large bottles which have four times the capacity of normal bottles.
The latest series of this lighter left the S.T. Dupont workshops in Faberges at the beginning of the 1950's. Forty years on S.T. Dupont has re-created this most prestigious table lighters, modified to use gas, but still requiring the dedicated craftsmanship of the goldsmiths and lacquerers.
This lighter features authentic Chinese lacquer , with its silky feel and pearl-like sheen, bestows on every object it adorns a precious, magical transparent look, providing a dramatic depth that no synthetic varnish can equal.
