Chinkin Artist:
 Kiyoshi Torige began learning Chinkin whilst he was still in high school. He was fortunate enough to have had private tutoring from the late Mae Taiho, the Living National Treasure in the Chinkin techniques. 

Mr. Torige teaches at the Wajima Vocational High School and the Ishikawa Prefecture Lacquer Art Technical Institute. The Institute is one of two in Japan established by the government to perpetuate the art of lacquering.

Mr. Torige has won numerous awards in exhibits affiliated with the prestigious Japan Traditional Crafts Exhibition. These are judged by the critical eyes of the Living National Treasures.

'Naginata Cross-Point' nib by Nobuyoshi Nagahara: 
This unique nib is hand crafter by Sailor's world renowned Nib designer Nobuyoshi Nagahara who has been a nib specialist for over 60 years with Sailor Pen.

A long lost technique of making 'Naginata Togi' (Japan long sword) nib was revived by him. A request from a calligraphy artist started Mr. Nagahara to future focus his attention on specialist nib development.

The special nib called the 'Naginata Cross-Point' is created by specially crafting two pen nibs together on top of another. The Special Tipping Material is then applied and then uniquely slit into a Cross at the tip. The tip is then meticulously shaped and polished to perfection creating the masterpiece of smooth writing style with good ink flow and feel like 'writing with a brush pen itself'.

The nib allows a variety of writing strokes and even when reversed, it writes fine. Mr, Nagahara has also created other special nibs showing the world the unlimited possibilities of nib design and craftsmanship.
